“Delighted to Share” was the theme of the 2015 Young Adult Mission Trip to Florida. While that phrase was true ON our trip, it is also true now that we are back. We are now “delighted to share” with YOU a few things in connection with our trip:
- Our gratitude to the First Trinity Community for their prayers and support.
- Stories of what God did in, through, and around us while in Florida.
- A challenge to delight in God and serving Him every day of our lives.
Rather than a typical “sharing event” that we sometimes have with mission trips, our sharing for this trip will take place in a variety of places and ways. In addition to a series of posts here on the First Trinity blog, you will also be able to find a scrapbook of our adventures in the lobby for the next few weeks and a slideshow during offering coming up sometime soon. We pray that these opportunities will not only be a chance to share our experience with you, but may challenge you to be “delighted to share” your faith and life in the world around you every day.
For now, here are a few quick facts about our trip:
WHO WENT: The participants included 2 high school seniors (Carly Wojton and Josh Collins), 2 college students (Becky Boccolucci and Sarah Bissell), and 2 adults (Doug Collins and Bekah Freed)
WHEN DID WE GO: January 1-7, 2015
WHERE DID WE GO: We served a variety of different places in the greater Orlando, FL area including: Rockledge, Merritt Island, and Kissimmee.
WHAT DID WE DO: The first part of the week we partnered with Grace Lutheran on Merritt Island to do a mini-VBS and painted the outside of Trinity Lutheran School in Rockledge. The second part of the week we served mainly in Kissimmee with an awesome organization called Give Kids the World. (More details about these experiences to come in future blog posts!)
THEME: As mentioned above, our theme was “Delighted to Share” based off of a verse from 1 Thessalonians that says: “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God, but our lives as well.” Throughout the week we focused on a variety of passages all through scripture that included the world “delight”.
