Monday Night Update from Nepal Team

Pastor Chuck Whited and Director of Care Ministries, Marsha Peth have joined with some people from Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church and a UB Campus Ambassador on a mission trip to Nepal with Sowers Ministries, June 18 – 30.

This is the day the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it!

We were on the road at 6:00 a.m. this morning for a three hour drive to Chitwan.  The people in that area are very poor and live in small shacks.  They are mostly farmers.  Some of the people walk three hours down the mountain to come to church.   Until recently they had lived in the most remote parts of the mountains, surviving on whatever they could find in the forest.  Many have never seen a foreigner.
We spent the day worshiping with them.  The small church was filled with three hundred people.  Many children crowed around us in the back of the church, drawing pictures for us, singing and dancing, and giving us so much love. The people gave us a huge welcome!  We received scarves (as we do on every church) and also a handmade medallion that says Welcome from Nepal!  The people are so gracious and good to us! After a wonderful time of worship we had the great joy of handing out Bibles to everyone there!   It was the highlight of the day, as we know that every man, woman, and child there now has access to God’s Word in their own language!  Monies that you contribute have made this possible!
The Pastors here work very hard.  The pastor of this church travels far up into the mountains every day, over suspension bridges, rocky roads, and through wilderness areas to bring the Gospel to people who no one has ever gone to before.  In Romans 10:14 we read “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!””  Thanking God today for all the Pastors here in Nepal who have such big hearts for God and a passion for people to hear the Good News!
