Hurricane Harvey Response

UPDATE:

The trip is scheduled. Go here for details.

We’ve heard from several people about how to help with the situation in Texas, so we wanted to update you on our plans as of right now. Obviously, some of the details are not yet known, but here are some ways you can help:

  1. Pray
Please pray for the people affected by the flooding, as well as the rescue workers and emergency management teams on the ground. Pray for sunny weather, courage and wisdom, and comfort for those affected. Pray that Jesus will be seen in the midst of this tragedy. As James says: “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16) Prayer is powerful and God is already working to help those in need.
  2. Give
We had been planning to take a special offering to help some churches we partner with in Nepal next week, but then Harvey happened. We still plan to support those churches, but we’ll also be helping financially in Texas. 90% of the money that comes through First Trinity will go to the Texas District of the LCMS for relief efforts. 10% will go to Sowers International to help our brothers and sisters in Nepal. Click here to give online, or mark your donation “Flood” and place it in the offering at worship. You can also text “Flood” plus an amount (Flood 25 to give $25) to 716-710-8800 to make your donation.
  3. Go
We are planning to send a team down to help in the coming months as the situation on the ground allows for us to serve without being an additional burden on the community there. We aren’t sure when that will happen yet, but you can sign up here to get the information as it becomes available.
