Parking Lot Worship – July 1, 2020

Parking Lot Worship – July 1, 2020

Join us for worship in the Preschool playground parking lot! We’ll celebrate our third Wednesday night service on July 1 at 7 p.m. in the great outdoors—weather permitting of course! A few things you should know about worship in the parking lot:

  • We’ll do some singing together.
  • Bring a lawn chair to sit on.
  • If you play a musical instrument, bring it along. Don’t worry, we won’t draft you into an impromptu band! We’ll take volunteers to play a couple notes on their instrument, so be ready if you’d like to do that. Otherwise, we’ll just show them off.
  • No instrument? No worries… Just bring you!
  • We’ll pray for your prayer requests out loud during the service.

These services have given us an opportunity to try new things in worship. This week we’ll be doing some elements in the style Taizé. Taizé involves singing short phrases or response several times, with meditation and prayer between them. We will use it for the prayer time. There will be a cantor to help us learn our part. Our organist, David Werth, will be playing the keyboard for the service. In addition to the Taizé piece for prayer, we’ll be using some simple hymns for outside. See links below for the music.

Interested in coming? Sign up using the button below. There should be plenty of space, but we’ll want to get in touch if the event is canceled for weather and to send out last minute details and the bulletin. Hope to see you there!

June 30 Update

Here are some last minute updates about the service tomorrow:

  • We are going to be allowed out of vehicles for the service. Bring your own seating for use in the parking lot. Could be a blanket, folding chair, whatever.
  • Parking will be available in the playground lot in the section closest to the houses (south end) as well as in the lot by the drive-up entrance.
  • The west (street) and north (gym) sections of the playground lot will be for seating.
  • Please remain at least 6 feet apart while walking to/from the lot.
  • We will be seated 12′ apart to allow for singing without masks. A team member will help you find a spot.
  • The building will not be available for use again this week.
  • There will be no handouts for this service. See below if you would like to print your own copy for the evening, or save them to your device. WiFi is sketchy in the parking lot.

There’s still room available if you would like to participate. It’s helpful if you’d register so we know who to expect, but if you can make it at the last minute and didn’t register, please come!
