Congregational Meeting – September 19, 2020

We will gather in the sanctuary on Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m. for our regularly scheduled congregational meeting. In addition to our normal business of electing officers for the Ministry Council and approving an operating budget, we will be voting to approve changes to our Constitution and ByLaws. We need a quorum of at least 50 people to approve the changes. We will be using our standard Health and Safety protocols for this meeting. If possible, please plan to…

2019-2020 Variable Tithe Designations

At First Trinity, we tithe 10% of our income to Christian ministries outside First Trinity (what joy to have the opportunity to be generous with what God has given us!). We love contributing to God’s work in our community, nation, and world. For 2019-2020, that means giving away approximately $82,500. While most of that is designated and amounts are in the budget, we have about $8,300 of variable tithe monies yet to designate.  At our congregational meeting on September 19,…

We will be using the following procedures for the meeting: Please enter through Door 1 (the main drive-up entrance). Bring a mask with you. If you don’t have…

Exciting Opportunity for Growth in Youth Ministry!

Rooted and Relevant Celebrating Life Together All People Matter These are the three core values we use to summarize the “DNA” of our church family here at First Trinity. One of the most challenging ones to embody is that first one. Because our world is changing so quickly around us we must continually seek God’s guidance in how we remain firmly rooted in the unchanging truth of God’s Word and our Lutheran heritage while sharing and living it in ways…

Joining Jesus on His Mission in Haiti: Children’s Ministry in Mon Bergieux

Many things to write about here, and I don’t know how much chance I’ll have to write, so this is just one peek… Yesterday we had people all over the place, serving God and His people in Haiti: Dan, Larry and Dale were high up in the mountains, carrying very heavy cinder blocks in muddy, hilly terrain. They are helping to rebuild the home of Etani, a former caretaker at the Children of Israel Orphanage. Her home was mostly destroyed…

Help the People of Costa Rica this Christmas with a Special Offering

We have a tradition of supporting ministries outside First Trinity through a special offering on Christmas Eve and Easter. For Christmas, we focus on an international ministry. We’re excited to be supporting Josh and Kari Keithley, missionaries to Costa Rica. Josh was on staff at First Trinity in 2004-2005 for his DCE Internship. We’ve asked Josh to share their plans, which you can read below. To the community of Tonawanda and family and friends of First Trinity: It is an…

Texas Mission Trip Update

First Trinity launched a Texas Mission Trip for Harvey Recovery on very short notice last week. In total, 8 people joined us for the 10-day trip. What a blessing it has been to the people here in Texas, as well as to the team. A few fun stories: We spent the first and part of the second day helping the Pastor of our host church (Memorial Lutheran in Katy, TX) finish cleaning out his house. We removed drywall, doors and…

Hurricane Harvey Recovery Mission Trip

First Trinity will be sending a team to help with recovery efforts in Texas after Hurricane Harvey came through. We will be working out of Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy, Texas, where Jason Christ used to serve. While we don’t know the specifics of the work we’ll be doing, we expect it to be labor-intensive jobs like removing debris from houses, helping people sift through belongings and decide what can be saved, moving salvaged possessions into storage, etc. Itinerary Friday,…

Special Christmas Offering 2016

Every Christmas and Easter we have a special offering benefiting a mission outside of First Trinity. In our vision, we talk about joining Jesus in our community, nation, and world. At Easter, we focus on our surrounding community, while at Christmas we partner with an international ministry. This Christmas, we will be supporting the Israel Izidor Foundation in Haiti to provide clean drinking water to the people there. Hurricane Matthew has made clean water even more difficult to obtain for…

Updates from Haiti

Click here to find out how to help with Haiti Relief We have been in contact with our partners in Haiti. Here’s an update on what we know right now: Regarding the Children of Israel Orphanage (CIO) in Torbeck: 70 people are staying at the boys’ orphanage. Leonie opened the clinic last Tuesday and 60 people got treated. They also opened it yesterday and will open it today too. They fed 300 people yesterday and they think the number could…
