Education Hour

Adults

Classes vary in size from small groups of 10 to larger groups of 30-40. Studies are a mix of group teaching, discussion and opportunities to ask questions if desired. Our current classes are:

  • The Book of Romans (Led by Sue Steege and Jason Christ)
This class will dig into the New Testament book of Romans, which has key teachings of the Christian faith in it. There will be chances to take the Word home with you included in the course. Click the links below to access the study sheets from class.
  • Hebrews (Led by Bill Stuckwisch)
This class will dig through the New Testament book of Hebrews. In this book you will learn how to appreciate the Old Testament most deeply and apply it to your life. Lots of time for discussion and questions! No Bible experience necessary.
  • Discover First Trinity (Led by Kathy Gibson)
Learn the basics of the Christian faith, including worship, prayer, service, study and more! You also have a chance to explore Lutheran beliefs and get to know others who are new to First Trinity. This is the class for people considering membership at First Trinity.

Children (Birth through Grade 5)

  • Child Care
Child care is provided for children ages 2 and under. It takes place in the nursery in the Upper Preschool.
  • Kingdom Quest (Led by Cathy Mongielo and the KQ Team)
Children between 3 years old and Grade 5 are invited to participate in Kingdom Quest. KQ is a fun, energetic alternative to the traditional Sunday School model. Children are divided into small groups (flocks) and paired with an adult leader (shepherd). They come together for a large group teaching time featuring Gordie the Puppet, an adult leader and songs and games. Additional hands-on learning and discussion happens in the flocks. Kingdom Quest meets in the Gym.
  • Everyday Faith – My Bible (Led by Marsha Peth and Wendy Morris)
This class is for third and fourth graders and their parents. Everyday Faith equips parents to nurture spiritual growth in their children’s lives. We will be learning together, exploring the Bible in new and creative ways, and making God’s Word a part of their everyday lives. The class will be full of activities, games, food and fun!

Youth (Middle School)

  • Grade 6 Cornerstone Sunday School (Led by Tim Amor)
Marsha leads youth in hands-on learning as they explore God’s Word together. Add in the occasional servant event, craft and cooking projects and you have a recipe for fun and relationship building. This class meets in the youth space below the worship center.
  • Grades 7 through 8 Cornerstone Sunday School (Led by Becky Whited)
Becky explores life issues in the lives of our Middle School students through the lens of God’s Word. Students participate in the discussion, share about their joys and struggles in life (if you want) and grow closer to one another around God’s Word. This class meets in the youth space below the worship center.

Youth (High School)

  • Crossroads Sunday School (Led by Deb Canfield, Bekah Freed, and Stephanie Mongielo)
Students in grades 9-12 gather each Sunday to explore God’s Word as it directly relates to their lives. After beginning to dig into the topic of the week in a large group, students have the opportunity to continue discussing it more in depth in their small groups. This is also a place for them to share how their week has been going, where they saw God at work, and what the group can pray about for them in the coming week.
