I posted the basics of the series earlier this week. Here’s a little bit more about the nature of these questions as found in the Announcements devotion this week…
In college, I used to enjoy staying up late and talking about deep, complicated questions. Many times, we’d be having a silly conversation about something meaningless, but it would turn to a more serious topic. It was interesting to see how other people wrestled with the same questions I did.
Maybe that’s why I’m excited about starting this new series about “Six Essential Questions” that most (dare I say, all?) people wrestle with. Here’s the complete list of questions we’ll be asking:
- Who is Jesus?
- What Matters Most?
- Am I Accepted?
- Where Is God?
- What Brings Fulfillment?
- What about Suffering?
On some level, everyone struggles with these questions. They are universal questions, because everyone has been created in God’s image, and these are really “God seeking” questions. They go deeper than intellectual knowledge alone, speaking into the very heart and soul of an individual.
God is comfortable with our asking these questions! He knows we wrestle with these things and invites us to find Him in the midst of the questions.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
As we explore these questions, we will seek God in the midst of them. God meets us where we are—in our doubts and questions—and is ready to be found.
